Computerizing from Day One ?Of course reasonable minds can often disagree, but I'd like to offer some
reasons to computerize your store from Day 1.
1. It's 2006, so you probably are familiar
with how to use a computer. IF you choose the right software program (we suggest ConsignPro!) it will be VERY easy to use - you SHOULD be able to
master it in a few HOURS and teach employees in the same amount of time. (Note: if you're
looking at buying software that requires a 2-day training class - please ask yourself
"why?" and run)
2. By not spending time on handwriting
tags, updating consignor balances, posting sales, hand-writing receipts and lists, and
doing other tasks manually, you'll have MORE time to spend with your customers and
consignors - building those important relationships. Your family will thank you too.
3. Once you have a store full of items and
a long list of consignors, you'll have to enter all that data into the software program
you choose. If you start from Day 1, you enter consignors and items as they come into your
shop.
4. Knowledge is built-in. The options you
set in your software program may cause you to think about better ways to run your store.
We've built the wisdom of hundreds of store owners into ConsignPro (buyers fees, cleaning
charges, time period markdowns, end prices with 98 cents, item return fees, etc.). While
you may not use all of these options, thinking about each may result in better decisions
about running your store.
Now please, don't take just my word for it. Listen to the
wisdom of others or read what our newest customers have had to say about their experience
with ConsignPro on our store owner feedback page!
New customer Jane Fredericks from WV writes:
"I just wanted to thank you for such a great and
user-friendly program and EXCELLENT service! I've been open for a month now and your
program has been so easy to use that my part time help (who only knows how to use a
computer for eBay) was able to sit down and do sales immediately with no trouble
whatsoever. Neither of my non-computer helpers was even intimidated by it. I signed it on
for them, walked them through it once, and that's all it took!"
